Event description
A night of some of Philadelphia's least known resistance stories, as told by you and your neighbors.

About this Event

In continued celebration of the 50th anniversary of the integration of Girard College and the acts of resistance that made it possible, Girard College is excited to host the Chronicling Resistance project for an evening of story circles. Chronicling Resistance invites you to bring a document or object you own that's part of your individual, family, or community resistance narrative. Your story can relate to education, race, gender, class, work, the environment, your neighborhood, or any other subject that's important to you. All persons in attendance will have an opportunity to share their story with 6-12 other people in a small group story circle. Doors to Founder's Hall will open at 5 PM for participants to explore the exhibit of oral histories “Opening the Gates: The Desegregation of Girard College." The evening will also include a tour of the Founder’s Hall Museum. All ages welcome!* Free parking onsite. Reception to follow.

Enter campus from the corner of Girard, S. Corinthian, and College Ave.

*Childcare will be provided onsite. If you plan to bring your child(ren), please let us know how many children and what their ages are through the registration page, or by emailing zjeka@pacscl.org.

Chronicling Resistance is an initiative linking 300-plus years of Philadelphia resistance history to current resistance narratives. Support for the Research and Development of Chronicling Resistance has been provided by the Pew Center for Arts & Heritage. For more information, please see http://resistance.pacscl.org.
