Presented by the Italian Cultural Institute in collaboration with PianoForte Foundation on the occasion of FARE CINEMA 2019, an initiative of the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation

* FARE CINEMA is a special event dedicated to Italian film industry professionals, highlighting their talent around the world. As part of this initiative, over 100 Italian cinema ambassadors will travel the globe to talk about the professions of filmmaking. Coordinated by the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation and the Italian Ministry of Cultural Heritage and Activities, FARE CINEMA is organized by the Italian Cultural Institutes throughout the world, Luce Cinecitta’, ANICA and Afi, to promote the quality of the Italian movie industry abroad.

Laura Perkett has enjoyed a multi-faceted and thriving dual career as both a soprano and an oboist for over a decade. As a soprano, Ms. Perkett’s recent solo credits include performances of Mozart's Mass in C minor, Micaela/La Tragedie de Carmen, and J.S. Bach's Johannespassion. As an oboist, she has also performed with Chicago area ensembles including the Northbrook Symphony, Rockford Symphony, Elmhurst Symphony, and Southwest Michigan Symphony Hailing from Minnesota’s Twin Cities, Ms. Perkett is a proud alumna of the University of Michigan (M.Mus.) and the University of Minnesota (B.Mus.). Also an avid chamber musician and recitalist, Laura is the Founder & Artistic Director of CHAI Collaborative Ensemble, a collective of musicians dedicated to performances of mixed vocal and instrumental chamber music. Laura now resides in Chicago, where she lives with her husband,Nathan.

 Caroline Rothstein enjoys an active and diverse career in the Chicago area. Since 2015, she has served as concertmaster of the Manitoba Underground Opera each summer. She received her master's degree in violin performance from Northwestern University's Bienen School of Music, where she was the recipient of the Anna Schauffler Lockwood endowed scholarship for excellence in string music. Her principal teachers and mentors include Chicago Symphony violinist Blair Milton and Milwaukee Symphony concertmaster Frank Almond. Caroline also attended Northwestern as an undergraduate, where she concurrently earned Bachelor of Music and Bachelor of Arts degrees and graduated with honors in both programs.

 Andrew Hesse is a cellist, teacher, father, amateur woodworker, and insurance professional in the Chicago area. A native of Normal, IL, Andrew spent seven years in the nation’s capital before returning to the Land of Lincoln in 2014. He has performed as a season substitute with the Chicago Lyric Opera Orchestra, Assistant Principal Cello with the Maryland Symphony Orchestra, the National Philharmonic Orchestra, and the Fairfax Symphony. He has been a member CHAI Collaborative Ensemble since the group’s inception in 2015. As both a chamber musician and soloist, Andrew takes pride in advocating the works of lesserknown contemporary and historical composers. Andrew earned his D.M.A. from the University of Maryland in 2018, where he served as teaching assistant to Professor David Teie. Previously, he received his M.M. from Northwestern University and B.M. from Illinois Wesleyan University. He lives in Downers Grove with his wife, Molly, and sons, Isaac and Oliver.

Italian collaborative pianist Roberta Terchi Nocentini has an extensive repertoire across both vocal and instrumental genres. Considered a top class vocal coach, she has regularly performed in recitals and concerts in Chicago, Rome, Strasburg, Bucharest, and London. As a répétiteur, she has worked on a broad range of operas. Roberta recently graduated (with Merit) from the Royal Academy of Music with a Master of Arts in Piano Accompaniment under the tutelage of Michael Dussek and James Baillieu. She has honed her technique from a variety of master classes with Bengt Forsberg, Jeremy Silver and Mark Shanahan during her tenure in London; Giuseppe Sabbatini, Marco Boemi and Robert Kettelsonn during her tenure in Italy; and with Jeff Cohen and Brigitte Belleys in Strasburg. Roberta holds a Master of Music in Piano (with Distinction) and in Opera Répétiteur (cum laude) from the Conservatorio Statale di Musica “Alfredo Casella. Roberta also obtained a Master of Arts in Modern Languages and Cultures (with Distinction) from the University of L’Aquila. In London, Roberta worked as Italian Language Coach for the Trinity Laban Conservatoire and for the Piano Accompaniment Course at the Royal Academy of Music. In Chicago, Roberta has worked as an Italian Language Coach for Chicago Vocal Arts Consortium’s Summer Opera Workshop of La finta giardiniera (2018) and Sing-Thru of L’Elisir d’amore (2019).
