Commercial Dr. AreaTour Description

Tour Host: Wendy Waters

In and around Victoria Park, see how a community space was recently remade through neighbour-and-city-cooperative efforts. We’ll also examine other small changes over the past decade that have had had notable effects on the liveability and character of the residential area just east of Commercial Dr.and north of E. 1 Ave.

Some of the tensions of change will also be discussed. Feel free to bring your own stories to share.

Tour Host Bio

Wendy Waters has lived in the Commerial Dr. neighbourhood for the past 10 years. She also authors an urban issues blog and is an affiliate of Richard Florida’s Martin Prosperity Institute.

Special Instructions

Parent-friendly, the talk will be of more interest to adults, but feel free to bring the kids. At the end, the host will be happy to stay and repeat portions of the talk for parents who may have missed something while attending to children's needs.

Jane's Walk

Jane's Walk is held simultaneously in cities across Canada and other countries around the world. Inspired by Jane Jacob's and her belief that in order to know your city "you have to get out and walk," Jane's Walk is a simple idea.
