Relationship-Driven Classroom Management
Event Information
Description
Classroom management is one of the biggest challenges facing teachers today. Regardless of our years in the classroom, we encounter students each year who present us with new challenges. If you’ve tried the tricks (and the treats), but are looking for something more substantial, this workshop is for you.
You’ll learn about the PRESTO system. This system helps students take ownership of their learning. By increasing student motivation, teachers can gradually reduce rewards and punishments while maintaining an orderly and highly effective learning environment.
Workshop registration includes lunch and a 6 hour professional learning certificate
About Relationship-Driven Classroom Management
Traditional classroom management relies on “behavior modification”: using punishments and rewards to control behavior. Research shows that, over time, this approach loses its impact and reduces students’ internal motivation. PRESTO employs a relationship-driven approach to classroom management. These strategies help students to increase motivation and gradually take ownership of their learning
