You wouldn't start swimming by doggy paddling faster, would you? At CrossFit Center City, we believe that running, though you may have been doing it forever, is a skill. If you're unsure of HOW you run and what the physics of your form are doing to your body, the film review from this session and the general overview of how your patterns can affect you performance will dramatically alter the course of your everyday run.

What do you do to make your running better? Run more? Around here, we believe your training is only as good as your recovery. If you’ve finished a heavy season of marathon or tri-training only to wish that you could afford your own personal masseuse – this session is for you. We’ll examine how some cheap tools and simple techniques can completely change your flexibility and, by extension, your times.

Injury Prevention
Runner’s Knee, IT Band Syndrome, Plantar Fasciitis – the list goes on, and on. Do we really believe that a simple human movement like running is THIS bad for most people? Or, could it be that it’s something we’re doing to make it so? We’ll review each of these common injuries and discuss possible causes and solutions.

Race Day Fueling
In the world of Endurance Sports, talking about food is equivalent to bringing up religion at Thanksgiving Dinner. That said, we’ll dive in and give you our two cents, especially with relevance to: what to ingest on or directly before race day itself, eating to be at your most efficient body composition for running, and how your recovery from training can be affected by your food.

How do you coordinate quality mileage for a marathon? How do you train your body to acclimate itself from swim to bike to run? How much is too much and when do you know that your training is working? We’ll talk mileage, multi-sport planning, strength training and its role in the life of a runner, and of course, how to combine all this into a week.

Times plateaued? Your weekly mileage becoming a little stagnant? Got nagging injuries that won’t quit? Then this FREE series is for you! Each week, we’ll examine a topic that’s relevant to weekend warriors and seasoned endurance athletes alike, using brief lectures, running/gait analysis and review and email follow up that will allow you review what you learned and work on drills for the remainder of the week on your own. Each session will culminate with a Crossfit workout designed to complement your needs and deficits as anendurance athlete. If you’ve been pounding the pavement with injuries, boredom or without giving a thoughtto how your running could be better - we want you! This entire series is FREE, low-key, and FUN - and a great way for any athlete to kick off the fall season.
