Reimagining Resilience 2: Developing Firmness Tools

In this course, we’ll build on the connection tools from the last workshop—adding a focus on firmness. Participants will learn strategies for relating to youth that are kind and firm at the same time; tools that encourage accountability while maintaining connection.

The course offers practical tools for encouraging empathy, accountability, internal agency and problem-solving skills in young people. Through this interactive series that features practical information, activities, and conversation, you will be ready to:

• Explain the brain’s response to stress, and why safety and connection are foundational to learning new skills.

•Demonstrate a variety of Connected and Firm responses (empowering) for challenging child behaviors.

•Identify and Practice strategies for joint problem-solving, repair and making agreements with young people.

•Invite conversations with colleagues about children experiencing trauma
