Reimagining Nonprofit Storytelling: Activating the Convergence of Media
Event Information
Description
Traditional media and public service announcements (PSAs) have long been a tool for nonprofits to broadcast their message nationally. Even in today’s digital-first world, PSAs and other forms of traditional media can reach millions of people and drive them to take action. But now, there are even more tools and tactics available: streaming services such as Hulu and Pandora pinpoint audiences both demographically and geographically; targeted social media campaigns can ensure limited resources are deployed to reach only the right people; and micro- and nano-influencers can produce higher ROI than even celebrity spokespeople.
Foreign adversaries and conspiracy theorists already know how to take advantage of the convergence of traditional and digital media to spread their messages online. This roundtable discussion will help nonprofit organizations reimagine storytelling for today - shifting from just talking about themselves to also becoming part of their audiences’ stories.
