Experience along with other bird enthusiasts a guided field trip to The George C. Reifel Migratory Bird Sanctuary, one of Canada’s top birding sites just 40 minutes north of Blaine across the border in Delta, BC. The Sanctuary consists of nearly 300 hectares (850 acres) of managed wetlands, natural marshes and low dykes in the heart of the Fraser River Estuary and provides a protected habitat for the millions of birds seeking feeding and resting areas during their annual migrations along the Pacific Coast. We will be observing an abundance of birdlife while casually walking several kilometers well maintained trails with many scenic lookouts through a variety of coastal habitats. Departure: The trip is by Charter bus and it will depart at 8 am from Birch Bay Square Mall, 8130 Birch Bay Square St. Please meet at the bus where it will be parked behind Wood’s coffee at least 15 minutes before to departure time.
Return 4 pm* Return time is estimated due to unpredictable border wait times.
Bring: Binoculars, camera, sturdy footwear (minor muddy conditions are possible), rain gear or umbrella (think Seattle weather if you're not from around here). Dress warm, it can be cool and windy. Water & snacks are good too. There are limited snacks available at the sanctuary. Bathrooms are near the entrance of the sanctuary and there is also a portable unit on the far side of the trial system.
This trip crosses into Canada. A Passport, Nexus or Enhanced Driver’s License is required. Children under 16 need the above or a birth certificate and will need to be accompanied by a parent or guardian. If you are bringing a snack or lunch, please check Canadian regulations of what food can and can't be brought into Canada.
Return Policy: Purchased tickets can be refunded up to 24 hours prior to the trip. A minimum of 20 guests must have registered for field trip to take place. If trip is cancelled due to lack of participants, all money will be refunded.
