I HAVEN'T SKATED SINCE THE 5TH GRADE (or ever). CAN I HANDLE DERBY SKATE CLUB?
No experience? No problem! You will learn foundational skating and non-contact roller derby skills in a methodical, safe, fun way. Our membership currently ranges from women age 18 through 67, some who have not skated since 5th grade, some who aspire to an eventual competitive roller derby career, and ALL of our members want to have fun and feel the wind in their hair in a positive supportve environment!
It's a great idea to head to your local rink for an open skate to get rolling and see if you enjoy the feeling. We do ask that our skaters try each lesson and skill and are willing to let go of the wall. Is this easy? We can't say that it's easy. Is it fun? ABSOLUTELY. We believe in you! You can do it!
I AM ALREADY A PROFICIENT SKATER. I LOVE TO SKATE! CAN I SKIP AHEAD TO THE INTERMEDIATE CLASS?
Roller Derby or Derby Lite skating experience is required to participate in the Intermediate level class.
If you love skating, AWESOME! You will quickly pick up the roller derby style skating skills in the Beginner class and will be ready to move on to Intermediate during our next session. Building a solid foundatin of these specific skills is essential for safety and fun!
