Regional Meeting for New Farmers

**This event is now open to new or prospective farmers

from any region across Ontario!**

Are you a new farmer (in the first 10 yrs of farming) or a prospective farmer in Northern Ontario?

Join us for a day of learning, networking with other farmers and planning on Saturday March 31st at Tom Davies Square, 200 Brady St, Sudbury, ON.

The meeting will feature a full-day workshop on Direct Marketing by Ann Slater - an experienced organic farmer, Provincial Coordinator of the National Farmers' Union Ontario Branch and member of the Ecological Farmers Association of Ontario.

"Having a great product is different from selling a great product. Direct Marketing will review all aspects of selling at a farmers’ market, from promotions, packaging and displays to pricing. CSAs, road-side stands, pick-your-own operations and co-ops will be reviewed as will marketing to stores and restaurants."

There will be networking opportunities with other new farmers throughout the day (including over a lunch featuring locally-grown foods), and we will be presenting plans for an upcoming project to support new farmers in Northern Ontario.

The meeting will adjourn for a dinner break (dinner not included in registration fee) and plans will be made for a group dinner at a downtown restaurant for those who would like to participate.

Following dinner, there will be an evening screening of the film: To Make a Farm, which follows the struggles and sucesses of 5 new farmers in Southern Ontario. (http://tomakeafarm.ca)

This meeting has been brought to you by the FarmON Alliance, Eat Local Sudbury and NFU Ontario North Local 333.
