Event description
We will visit two farming operations near Norsewood that have been using regenerative farming principles over the last few years.

About this Event

This event has been organised by a group of Wairarapa farmers who recently attended a farm planning course based on regenerative farming ideas and are interested in learning more. We will be following this up with a workshop to share some of the tools we learnt during the farm planning course. Date and time to be confirmed.

Greg Barclay, previously a farmer and now farming coach has been working in the Lower North Island with farmers over the last 10 years using regenerative farming principles. His knowledge of soils, pastures and farm management are well recognised. Greg uses a four pronged approach when working with farming businesses which includes minerals, biology, plants and management.

We will visit John Meek's 750 cow winter milking OAD operation and Kevin Hermansen's winter grazing and beef finishing block running a permanent pasture system.

Greg and the farm operators will talk about what they have been doing on farm over the last few years and how this has affected the animals, soils, plants, management and the profitability of the operation. There will be plenty of time to ask questions and look around the farms.

If you are traveling from the Wairarapa we will be meeting at the Carpark outside Farriers at 9am for those that would like to carpool. (Farriers address: 4 Queen St, Masterton 5810)

It’s an approx. 1hr 30min drive to the farm from Masterton. Bring your own lunch.
