The UNI Religion Program's Senior Seminar would like to invite you to attend a presentation and discussion sharing and celebrating our service-learning partnership with EMBARC-Iowa. EMBARC (Ethnic Minorities of Burma Advocacy and Resource Center) is a grassroots refugee-led non-protfit organization that helps Burmese refugees resettle in Iowa. This fall semester, Religion majors and minors partnered with EMBARC to learn more about the role of religion in refugee resettlement in the Cedar Valley and to aid EMBARC in their efforts to helps refugees prepare for the Iowa workforce. The design of the class centered upon the idea that knowlege inside the classroom is applicable outside the classroom and, conversely, that events that occur outside the classroom should shape learning that occurs inside the classroom. We welcome conversation partners as we share what we learned and how our reflections on this partnership might be beneficial to others in the community.
