Kate Jastram who teaches at the University of California Berkeley Boalt Law School where she received her JD, will be speaking. She is Vice-Chair of the American Society of International Law’s Lieber Society on the Law of Armed Conflict. She writes and consults on forced migration and on armed conflict. She was a legal advisor to the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees in Geneva and in Washington, DC and served on the American Bar Association’s Commission on Immigration Advisory Task Force on Civil Immigration Detention Standards where she was lead expert on asylum issues for the U.S.
