Event description
Jewish & Christian perspectives on the world's most famous Passion play

About this Event

Panel discussion on the Oberammergau Passion Play and Christian anti-Semitism. Since 1634, pilgrims have flocked to the German town of Oberammergau to witness its famous Passion Play. A dramatic production of the events surrounding Jesus' death, the play has also been marred by anti-Semitism through the centuries. An expert panel will discuss the impact of the play on Jewish-Christian relations.

  • Hilary Salk, author of the novel Eavesdropping in Oberammergau
  • Judy Banki, senior advisor for interreligious affairs, Tenenbaum Center for Interreligious Understanding
  • Rev. Kevin Spicer, C.S.C., Professor of History, Stonehill College, and Chair of Council of Centers on Jewish-Christian Relations
