Alumni conversation on the events of January 6th

About this Event

Topic: Reflections on 6 January and Beyond: a Candid Conversation with Peter Tracey, BK '82, AKA #GuyOnPorch and Fellow DC Resident Shawntia Humphries, AKA #WomanInCar

The shocking events at the Capitol last Wednesday provoked strong emotional reactions, fear and anger chief among them. While most of us consumed the images on our phones and tv, what if that seditious wave had encroached on you more directly, say on your doorstep? Would you have reacted like Peter Tracey, BK ’82, whose raw, spontaneous response resonated with so many Americans? How might you seek to channel such passion toward enduring change?

Join us this Thursday for a conversation with Peter and Shawntia about their experience that day, and their reflections since, hosted by the Yale Club of Washington, D.C. with the support of the YAA Board of Governors DEI Committee. We encourage participants to share their own experiences with the events of 6 January, and there will be break out rooms to facilitate further conversations and connections. With the Presidential Inauguration around the corner, and forces of hate and intolerance still poised on our collective doorsteps, Peter and Shawntia's story can serve as inspiration for action and the bridging of racial divides in our country.

DC area residents, please consider becoming a member of the Yale Club of Washington, D.C. Register today at https://www.yaleclubdc.org/join.

All Yale alumni and guests are welcome.
