Reflecting a Sense of Place and Purpose
Sat, November 19, 2016, 5:30 PM – 7:30 PM AEDT
Chesterfield is one of Geelong's oldest surviving Georgian homes. As part of this year’s Garden Design Fest, Chesterfield garden will be open to the public for the very first time, from November 19-20. As an added bonus, join the garden’s designer, Stephen Read, and owner of Chesterfield, Mary-Jane Walker, for an evening soirée in the grand dining room of Chesterfield. The evening will include a talk by Stephen and Mary-Jane which will give a fascinating glimpse into the life of this historic property, what makes it unique and why we need to respect our special places.
Mary-Jane, will talk on the history of the property and how they saved it from the developers’ bulldozer. The title of Stephen’s presentation is ‘Reflections on Sense of Place and Purpose;” why, as designers, we need to be present, take a breath, and tap into what makes a place unique.
