Event description

Description

This class is truly at a great venue, complete with a sauna in each locker room which the kids pile into at the end of our water skills sessions, and a spacious pool and lounge classroom. We do class in style!

Note: If class is full, put your name on the wait list. We often open up more slots at this venue. Or check our other training dates on our calendar at HappySwimmers.com Lifeguard Certification section.

One Day Review Course--You must have your certification current or up to 30 days expired to be allowed to attend a Review Course. Please be prepared to show the instructor first thing on arrival.

This class yields Red Cross certification for Lifeguarding as the foundation for employment at pools across the US and includes Professional Rescuer CPR, AED, and Lifeguard First Aid, certificates all valid 2 years from the date of successful course completion. Course enrollment closes and course dates removed from this list once full. Enroll soon to save your seat!

We suggest watching our class review videos and do exercises online in the days leading up to class to prepare well for our intensive day. Review videos and study guide are given once enrolled.

Class runs 8 am to approximately 730 pm (If you need a ride, please be prepared to text/call if done sooner or later)

FAQs

Are there ID or minimum age requirements to enter the event?

15 years old by the last day of the class

Passing 3 Swim Tests as per Red Cross requirements at the beginning of class.

  • Swim 300 yards breaststroke AND freestyle (example: 12 lengths of a standard 25-yard public pool) demonstrating breath control and rhythmic breathing without stopping, not timed.
  • Tread water for 2 minutes using only the legs
  • A timed weight-retrieval drill (the Brick) where you swim 20 yards, do a surface dive to a 10-pound weight in 7-10 feet deep water, surface and swim on your back with the object 20 yards, exit the water without using a ladder or steps. The time limit is 1 minute and 40 seconds. This is an easy time interval for the normal swimmer.
  • Please note: Course tuition fees are not refundable for not passing the swim pre-tests. Although the tests are not exceedingly difficult, being a lifeguard takes solid swimming skills or you could put yourself and/or the victim in serious danger and have a double drowning. The Red Cross and your instructors take that seriously. Why not practice test yourself in the days or weeks before class?

How can I contact the organizer with any questions?
