Reduce your Food Waste: some creative ideas. October 19.
Wed, October 19, 2016, 10:30 AM – 2:00 PM AEDT
Most of us don't have to think about where our next meal will come from - we are part of the lucky who have enough food; usually more than enough. However as responsible consumers we should all be thinking about the cost not just to our pocket but to our plant with the production of that food we toss on a weekly basis .Begin to start to making wise choices to reduce food waste and necessary over production.
Shopping wiser. Cooking everything we buy. Think about your leftovers. Are you up for the challenge?
Join me, as we start to rethink the food we eat to reduce food waste. Together in this hands on class we will discover some ways to reduce food waste.
$10 from each ticket will go towards the OzHarvest #pledgeaplate fundraiser - By taking part in the #PledgeAPlate Challenge we will be helping OzHarvest deliver more food to people in need, provide nutrition education and training to vulnerable Australians and minimize food waste. Indeed, every $1 donated will allow OzHarvest to deliver two meals to people in need. Our contribution will make an enormous impact on the lives of so many people who unlike ourselves do have to think about where there next meal will come from.
Best Before - is not the same as use by. Wilted should not be wasted.
We will finish the class enjoying what we have cooked for lunch and post everything on Instagram with the #pledgeaplate #wastenotwantnot
PLEASE BRING - one item from your fridge or pantry that you would be tossing in the bin in the next few days. Bought it on a whim and don’t know what to do with it? bought more than you needed for dinner last night? its was on special and now you haven’t used it.
