Redbridge Council in East London are improving services for their residents and businesses, and as part of this we are rebuilding our website. We want to try and make sure no-one is left behind as more services and businesses go digital, and not just in your local council. Nearly 12% of our residents - and over 30% of our over 65s - have never used the internet. We want this to change.
This hack day aims to find and develop ways to help more people get online, by proto-typing a digi-buddies scheme, working with residents, staff, businesses and other local people.
As with any hack, the outputs that the day comes up with can and may change as the day develops. As long we can help people get online, it doesn't matter how!
We’d like to hear from local residents (whether you’re online already or not), graphic designers, web developers, project managers, techies, local community groups - anyone who can help us tackle this challenge. We especially want to hear from people who haven’t got experience of using the internet, as their contribution will help focus the day on actually delivering what is needed.
Breakfast, lunch and snacks will be provided.
