Description

Redworm Vermicomposting - Dylan Frautschi

Saturday, October 19th, 1pm - 2:30pm

$35 Class + Dylan's Starter Worm Bin

$20 Class Only

Want to reduce your trash? Want to learn an easy composting method? Tired of dealing with piles of compost outside? Or, keep the piles and also incorporate Vermicomposting!

You will build your own custom starter bin with red wiggler worms to take home, learn how simple and low-maintenance worm composting is, how to escalate or slow your population growth, how to screen and seperate out worms, reduce your trash, and create your own fertilizer for your garden. We will have ample time to discuss other methods for larger-scale farming, resources (which are many), questions about your personal set-up, etc. In this hands-on class you'll hear the full story of how Dylan was thrusted into redworm farming, now ten years later it is one of his passions in life and the worms have followed as he moved (can't do that with an outdoor compost pile). Worms can be kept inside in bins stored in basements, closets, under sinks in the winter and even moved outside in the summer.

If you do not need a worm bin but would like to take the class, please call the store to sign up for the Worm Class Only for $20. 651-645-0818

Dylan Frautschi of wHERE tHE rED wORMS gROW started this red worm farm over 10 years ago as a hobby. It is still a hobby, but has grown from one-third of a plastic bin to currently over 20 full bins. His other interests include playing music, art, disc golf, hunting for wild edible mushrooms, and growing plants. He works for Rush Creek Growers in greenhouse production and delivery, also a variety of things from sound-guy, handy-man, carpentry, landscaping and yard work.

Please plan ahead for street parking. The one parking space in our shared parking area is for loading and pick-up. We share a parking lot, please be courteous and do not park in our loading zone for class. Thank you for helping us to be good neighbors.
