Also known as The Andrew Norwood House, this elegant urban residence is a perfectly preserved 1847 mansion with 13 fireplaces, huge mahogany doors, and intricate plaster crown molding with hidden touches throughout. Designed in a transitional style which combines Greek revival and italiante features. A remarkably preserved slice of early Victorian architecture and lifestyle - both inside and out; the House is listed on both the National Register of Historic Places and the New York City Landmarks Preservation Commission.

Bernard Whitman, President & CEO of Whitman Insight Strategies and author of 52 Reasons To Vote For Obama, is a political and brand strategist with over twenty years experience advising some of the world’s most powerful leaders, companies, and organizations. A pollster to President Bill Clinton and Mayor Michael Bloomberg, Bernard has been involved in the past eight U.S. presidential campaigns, and has served as strategic adviser for six heads of state, as well as for leaders in emerging democracies across Eastern Europe, Latin America and the Caribbean. 

Bernard leverages insight to shape public opinion and ignite action to win more votes for brands, causes, and elected officials.  A three-time recipient of the David Ogilvy Excellence in Research Award, Bernard has pioneered the development of The Political Model to identify the “swing” consumer, and the messages and media channels that can unlock additional votes for a brand or cause. He is an expert at using quantitative and qualitative research to successfully position political leaders, Fortune 500 companies, non-profit groups, and hundreds of brands, products and services.

Bernard is a frequent television commentator with over 250 media appearances on networks including MSNBC, CNN, Fox News, Current TV, ABC, CNBC, and Fox Business, and provides winning strategic and communications advice to clients across the United States and around the globe.

Bernard graduated magna cum laude with honors from Brown University, is a former Peace Corps volunteer, and lives with his husband, son, and basset hound in New York City.

 

Thomas Gensemer of Blue State DigitalTHOMAS GENSEMER

Based in Blue State Digital's New York headquarters, Thomas manages the company’s relationship with WPP, BSD's parent company, and provides day-to-day executive leadership to several of the largest consulting engagements. He joined BSD in 2005 with a background in venture capital, strategy consulting, and technology startup management.

Today, Thomas draws on those experiences to drive the strategic vision underpinning Blue State Digital’s online tools – resulting in a digital framework that is constantly evolving to meet the growing range of goals defined by BSD's diverse client base.

Immediately prior to BSD, Thomas was the director of Internet strategy for America Coming Together (ACT), where he managed the organization's marketing, online fundraising and grassroots engagement. Prior to ACT, Gensemer led online communications for General Wesley Clark's 2004 presidential campaign.

From 1999 to 2003, Thomas managed The Accelerator Group, an entrepreneurial venture capital fund with offices in New York, Los Angeles, and London. The fund developed and funded a broad portfolio of early-stage technology and marketing businesses; its holdings included Pyra-Blogger (acquired by Google), Openwave (OPWV), 24/7 Media (TFSM), and Meetup.com.

Thomas was featured in Crain’s New York’s “40 Under 40” in 2009. He is a graduate of New York University and lives in New York City, although he frequently travels among BSD’s five offices.

 

Randy Paynter of Care2RANDY PAYNTER

Randy Paynter is the Founder and CEO of Care2.com. Candace Gingrich-Jones of HRCCANDACE GINGRICH-JONES

Since 1995, Candace Gingrich-Jones has served as a key advocate for issues of importance to the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender community. Her involvement in the movement for queer equality began when her brother, Rep. Newt Gingrich, R-GA., was elected House speaker.

Her 1996 autobiography, The Accidental Activist, was a best seller in the LGBT community. Gingrich-Jones has been profiled in national newspapers & magazines, guest-blogged at Huffington Post and appeared on Good Morning America, Countdown with Keith Olbermann and  the Queen Latifah Show. She also memorably guest-starred as the minister on Friends in the groundbreaking episode “The One with the Lesbian Wedding.”

On behalf of the Human Rights Campaign, Gingrich-Jones has criss-crossed the country to promote the importance of coming out, the duty to vote and the power of everyday conversations to change minds. As HRC's Youth & Campus Outreach associate director, Gingrich-Jones works to provide tools, facilitate connections and empower Gen EQ (Generation Equality) to fight for LGBT equality on campus and beyond.

Gingrich-Jones lives in Hyattsville, MD with her wife, Rebecca.
