Event Information
About this Event
We’ll be launching our first zine and celebrating with a banquet of music, food and art.
Celebrate the Year of the Pig with us!
Get fed, support queer asian artists and nourish yourself in queer lunar new year joy.
Red Pocket Press works and creates on unceded lands of the Kulin Nation. Our respect goes out to the first storytellers and creators of this land and their elders past, present and becoming, on whose land we celebrate QLNY on.
~Price ~
$20 – $25*
Please register your attendance and pay the full amount at the door.
Free entry for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander mob.
*If you have the capacity, we highly encourage our suggested donation of $25. All performers, kitchen staff and support have kindly donated their time and talent to make this happen. Qtipocs not turned away for lack of funds.
All profits of the zine and event will go to Warriors of Aboriginal Resistance (WAR) – specifically to support their queer initiative addressing Aboriginal youth suicide.
~ Dress code ~
We invite you to wear your best threads to celebrate QLNY with us. Red and Gold for luck and joy. Absolutely no yellowface, blackface or any kind of cultural appropriation in your outfits. If you’re not Asian then leave the chopsticks out of your hair. Respectfully celebrate with us!
~ Accessibility ~
The bathrooms are gender neutral and can be made wheelchair accessible. The entrance to the venue has a 9cm step and the courtyard has a 11cm step. Please contact redpocketpress@gmail.com if you have accessibility requirements.
~ About Queer Lunar New Year ~
Lunar New Year is a time of bringing together family, reigning in the good fortune and honouring your ancestors. We hope that this event can bring together all the elements we love about lunar new year into a night of queer joy.
~ About Red Pocket Press ~
