Anything Chartreuse (2019) is the debut EP and solo recording project of vocalist, composer and roving musicologist Majel Connery. Originally trained in classical music, Connery's "crystalline voice" (Chicago Reader) is the centripetal force on the album, unifying four experimental tracks that range from vocoder sonnets to "dreamy art pop" (Second Inversion). Too complex to be ambient, and too atmospheric to be rock, the EP is a marriage of proggy, moody & arty, side-stepping verse/chorus form in favor of massive, shifting textures and lyrical climaxes. A former opera scholar, Connery was a professor of music at the University of California, Berkeley before launching a career as a professional singer in 2015. Most recently she wrote and performed songs about porn, periods and sad fish for five episodes of Radiolab's "Gonads" series.

LOUIZA is the indie-pop / art-rock experiment of San Francisco-born artist Rebecca Mimiaga, whose penchant for sweet yet strange melodies yields bright, heady and immovable pop hooks. Mimiaga’s expertise ranges from opera and jazz to classical, as well as musical theatre, having studied at both Skidmore College and The New School for Jazz and Contemporary Music. Party Trick and her latest record, Swim At Night, were recorded with producer James Riotto (The Mountain Goats, tUnE-yArDs, Ezra Furman) at John Vanderslice’s all-analog facility Tiny Telephone in Oakland.

Her latest album, Swim At Night eschews archaic pop structures as well as Mimiaga’s finely honed vocal technique (developed through years of formal training), opting instead for spontaneity and gut instinct.
