3) Swim 20 yards, submerge to a depth of 7 to 10 feet to retrieve a 10-pound brick, return back to the starting point, and exit the pool without using a ladder or steps. Time limit is 1 minute, 40 seconds.

To receive Red Cross certificate each participant must:

- Attend all classroom and skills training sessions.

- Demonstrate competency in all skills and activities.

- Demonstrate competency in three final skill scenarios.

- Pass two multiple-choice written exams with a score of 80 percent or higher.

We are excited to offer you part of your American Red Cross Lifeguarding Class in an online format, called "blended learning." Blended learning combines online learning with in-person skills sessions where you will practice skills and demonstrate competency. The online learning modules are only required new lifeguards but highly recommended for recertification participants. They contain the majority of the test questions! Please plan to complete all eLearning modules, including the CPR/AED for Professional Rescuers and First Aid final eLearning exam, prior to your first in-person skills session. Most participants complete the eLearning portion of the course in approximately 7 hours. We recommend beginning the online session as soon as possible to ensure that you are able to complete all eLearning modules prior to the first in-person skill session.

To create a login and access the online course content, please copy and paste the following link into your browser:

After creating a log in, using your email address and password, click “Launch Course” to begin.

Please be prepared to provide proof that you completed the online content by printing out or taking a screenshot of your online course completion record, or completion status email, which are available at the conclusion of the eLearning course. Bring the verification to the first in-person skill session. It will read “Proceed to Skill Session.”

Notebook, pencil, goggles, towel, swimsuit, sunscreen, warm clothes to change into, a bag lunch, snacks, and bottled water. We will be kneeling on the ground for CPR practice so a yoga mat or extra padding like a thick towel is advised. We will have a 30 minute lunch break.

Thanks for your consideration in preparing for our class!
