Event description

Description

Bring the whole family for a one-hour recycyled holiday craft workshop with our dear friend Peery Sloan!

(Please note: there are two separate classes: one from 11 am - 12 pm, and one from 12 - 1 pm. Select which class you prefer after clicking on Tickets.)

Invite your kiddo to be green this holiday season through found art!

The LAB is hosting a festive and social workshop to minimize waste and increase creativity for the holidays. What others deem trash, will be re-imagined into something truly special - a gift, an ornament, decorations, an art piece, greeting cards, etc...

Let's rework, recycle, and reuse to make something unique and festive!

The workshop will minimize waste and maximize education. Your child's endless curiosity will thrive while they experiment with unlikely art materials - no two creations will be the same.

All the learning is hands-on, and your kids will discover new ways to rethink materials that others may dismiss.

You are welcome to bring recyclables with you to personalize your holiday creation. (Though, you do not need to bring anything at all, as we provide all the necessary supplies.)

It is an easy craft day that should not make your clothes dirty. This workshop is suitable for children 5 years and up.

There is a $15 fee for this workshop per child. A maximum of 25 spots is available per hour class.

About Peery

Peery Sloan is a curious mixed media artist emphasizing natural beauty, recycle culture, and salvage material.

Peery studied painting at Scuola Internazionale di Grafica in Venice, Italy and received a MA: BFA in painting from Boston University.

Her work has been exhibited in Venice, London, Joshua Tree, San Francisco, Boston, Bozeman, Iowa City, Knoxville, and Treviso, Italy (for good measure.) She also was the Henry Miller Library’s artist-in-residence in 2014.

Check out her full CV here.

As an instructor, she encourages awareness and appreciation in an age that relies on the instantaneous nature of technology. She is developing her own visual and conceptual vocabulary that has emerged through her focus on the points of intersection between painting, craft, and spatial analysis.

See you hopefully on December 10th!
