About RecruitDC

recruitDC is bringing together the best and brightest in our local recruiting community to share our challenges with meeting demands that change daily – even hourly! The DC area is unique in recruiting – we have low unemployment even during a recession, we have many industries that cross cut geography and we have a national and international flair within a small hometown environment.

We are happy to bring to the DC area a leader in mobile recruiting, Michael Marlatt, to share with the DC community the key trends in mobile recruiting and how to integrate this into your recruiting strategy.

Generation “Mobile”: Diverse. Connected. On-the-Go.

Mobile adoption worldwide is growing faster than we can keep up. In fact, back in July 2010, it was report by both Ericsson and Wireless Intelligence that the total number of mobile connections worldwide surpassed the 5 billion mark. Translation: mobile is big.

Very big.

At the end of 2009, the U.S. finally reached 285M mobile subscribers. Last year, 70M U.S. mobile subscribers connected to the Internet, including the 41 million who carried “SmartPhones”. As mobile computing and cloud-based services continue to intersect, users are discovering more options to stay connected while on the go.

In a recent 2010 study by iPASS, mobile workers noted that they were used to carrying multiple mobile devices. Nearly 97% of mobile employees even carry two or more mobile devices, and almost 50%carried three or more. In fact, their research revealed that mobile workers use their mobile devices to blend work and personal business. More than 90% of employees use their smartphone for both work and personal business.

With mobile adoption continuing to grow at unprecedented rates, the real question is, why haven’t employers embraced the mobile recruitment channel the way they have social media? It’s now time to explore this question as well as investigate many others.

· Join Michael’s mobile recruiting session and learn about:

· Why mobile might be the glue that binds your social media recruiting efforts.

· Where the opportunities are for employers seeking to attract and engage candidates while they are on-the-go.

· Which mobile solutions make the most sense for your organization (e.g., mobile web, mobile app, mobile messaging, proximity-marketing, etc)?

· Does mobile location-based-services (e.g., Foursquare, Loopt, Facebook Places, Gowalla, JobCompass, Zubedjobs, etc.) have a role in recruiting?

· Mobile recruiting examples and a live demo to experience mobile messaging in action.
