Event description

Description

The Virginia Department of Social Services-Faith Based and Community Initiative will host a viewing of the Health & Human Services Administration's convening of national leaders and experts to discuss the opioid epidemic and other addictions, in efforts to raise awareness, encourage compassion, and recognize the important role of the community and families in long-term recovery & prevention.

Following the broadcast, leaders and members of faith-based and community organizations are invited to explore and discuss the opioid epidemic in Virginia, information and resources and collaborative approaches that can foster healing and wellness in our communities. The HHS Partnership Center's new practical toolkit, Helping Faith and Community Leaders Bring Hope and Healing to Our Communities will also be used to help guide the post-broadcast discussion.

This event is a collaborative effort with VDSS, the Virginia Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Services, Virginia Department of Health-Partners in Prevention and Prayers and the Virginia Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control.

Seating for the event will begin at 12:30 p.m.
