Helios Recovery Services recognizes the critical need for support in navigating the multiple barriers faced by individuals who have experienced incarceration or any involvement within the justice system. The CCAR Recovery Coaching in Justice Systems training is a comprehensive training program that will equip participants with the skills and knowledge needed to navigate the unique challenges of working with individuals who have experienced incarceration or involvement in the criminal justice system. This training will provide a deep understanding of the different justice settings where recovery coaches can serve, including the barriers and resources that individuals in these settings may face. We'll also explore the ethical considerations of serving within these systems, including how culture and stigma can affect individuals involved in the system and those affected by incarceration. Participants will:
- Understand the different justice settings where recovery coaches can serve
- Learn about the barriers and resources that people involved in these settings can face
- Explore the ethical considerations of serving in these systems
- Explore how culture and stigma can affect people involved within this system and people affected by incarceration
- Know how to serve in the capacity of your expertise by staying in your lane
- Demonstrate how to utilize the skills of a recovery coach to support those within justice settings.
Additionally:
A laptop, desktop (pc or mac), webcam, and separate headset with mic and audio capability are required to attend. We cannot allow the use of tablets, ipads or smartphones as they have limited capabilities to use the platform for our intended training purposes.
Pre-work is required for all CCAR Online Training Programs. The pre-work serves as a basis for the discussion and activities that will be done in class. You will submit one journal assignment for each day of training.
In addition to the training fee, participants will need to purchase a training manual from Amazon prior to the class. A link to manuals, zoom, and pre-work assignments will be sent prior to the training.
