Reconsidering The Central Park Five
Sunday, January 27th at 2 PM
The final session of an Open Bible Study three week series on theological reflection and discussion of unjust imprisonment concludes with a screening of the 2012 documentary film, The Central Park Five, written and directed by Ken and Sarah Burns with David McMahon.
Sarah Burns is the author of the book, The Central Park Five: The Untold Story Behind One of New York City's Most Infamous Crime, in which she examines the 1989 “Central Park Five” case. Five black and Latino teenagers were convicted of raping a white woman in the park. The boys, who spent between 6 and 13 years each in prison, were released when a serial rapist confessed to the crime.
A panel discussion, Q&A and book signing will follow.
Co-sponsored by the Ministries of Education and Mission & Social Justice and Movies@Riverside.
