Event description

Description

When children are involved in or exposed to domestic or sexual violence, it can drastically damage their sense of security, blur their understanding of why the violence is happening and limit or remove their access to safety. With growing evidence indicating that exposure to violence and other forms of trauma can have negative impacts on children, it is crucial that professionals working with young ones are prepared to respond in a trauma-informed way. This training will illustrate the impact of chronic exposure to violence on a child’s developing brain and explore the physical, behavioral and emotional effects that may be caused by these adverse childhood experiences. Participants will be provided with trauma-informed, evidencebased tools as a means to promote resiliency and strengthen protective factors for children. This training will utilize research from Futures Without Violence to offer recommendations and guidelines for professionals as they support children to heal and grow. This training is AZ POST and COJET Certified and may qualify for CLE credits.
