Description

A one-day training program for Emergency Department (ED) personnel (MDs, RNs, NPs, PAs) to improve skills in triaging, screening, assessing, treating and making discharge dispositions for patients at risk of suicide.

The RRSR-ED Training:

  • Includes FREE CME and CE credits
  • Meets Joint Commission recommendations
  • Offers extensive case applications and illustrative vignettes
  • Provides Training Manual, references and resources
  • Includes Certificate of Attendance
  • Covers in-depth:
    • Triaging suicidal patients
    • Legal/ethical issues
    • Adult and pediatric patient issues
    • Recognizing suicide risk in patients who deny having suicide ideation
    • Suicide risk assessment
    • Development of treatment and discharge plans
    • Difficult to treat patients

Upon registration, attendee will receive agenda and exact building/room for the training.



Presented by Dr. Lanny Berman

Dr. Berman has 47 years as a suicidologist. He also has taught courses on suicide (American University faculty, 1969-1991); Director, National Center for the Study and Prevention of Suicide, Washington School of Psychiatry (1991-1995); Executive Director, American Association of Suicidology (1995-2014); eight books authored or edited and more than 125 peer-reviewed articles and book chapters published on suicide. He is currently an Adjunct Professor in the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences at Johns Hopkins School of Medicine.
