Description

SCAN is a program of the PA Chapter, American Academy of Pediatrics and is approved for Act 31. At the conclusion of this activity, participants should be able to:

Ø Identify the role of child protection

Ø Define categories of child abuse in the law

Ø Recognize potential risks/indicators of child abuse/neglect

Ø Describe role of mandated reporter

Ø Explain referral process and follow up

Ø Utilize prescribed reporting channels and processes to report suspected child abuse via telephone or the Internet.

This activity has been planned and implemented in accordance with the accreditation requirements and policies of the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education through the joint providership of the Pennsylvania Medical Society and the Pennsylvania Chapter of the American Academy of Pediatrics. The Pennsylvania Medical Society is accredited by the ACCME to provide continuing medical education for physicians.
