Event description

Description

This will be the launch event for a collective healing series rooted in ancestral and holistic modalities.

Participants will experience an energitic clearing, guided sound meditation, and an interactive discussion on holistic living and how we create our own disposition. Some of the themes that will be explored include: taking accountability for our healing, right thinking, the process of getting to the root cause of dis-ease, the importance of spiritual practice, mindful consumption, and other tools for cultivating awareness. A plant based meal will also be served.

Co-curated and Facilitated by Daoud Abeid

Reiki Practitioner / Healer and Certified Reiki level IV Master/Teacher

Daoud was able to actualize his lifelong attraction to spirituality and the healing arts while studying under a Reiki Maser, from India, in 2005. Since then he has been actively working with people to expose them to self-care with a focus on wellness and energy healing. Understanding that disease, as well as health, is the product of life choices, he is dedicated to inspiring people to embrace choices that reinforce healthy living. Daoud trains with Native American Medicine people from Northern and Southern regions and utilizes traditional techniques in his healing practice. Through his practice Daoud has discovered that people are suffering from a spiritual disconnect from self and ancestors and has found that when traditions are embraced, wellness is restored to many who are suffering. With that in mind, he is working toward normalizing spiritual and healing practices in the Black and Latino community by establishing a sacred space for workshops and retreats.

Co-curated by Molicia Crichton

Visionary Artist / Holistic Lifestyle Practitioner

Molicia Crichton utilizes her creativity as a tool for spiritual self expression and inspiring transformation. Her personal healing journey was accelerated by the decision to transition to a plant based diet in 2004. After many years of being drawn to eastern philosophy, mysticism, and ancestral studies, Molicia became an active meditator and yoga practitioner in 2010. The shift to a holistic lifestyle resulted in curing her battle with depression and the embodiment of practice. Molicia’s testimony with using food as medicine led her to become Co-founder of Nile Valley Eco-Juice and Salad Bar which was operated at the former Dekalb Market in 2011/2012. She later became the curator of Self-Care Sundays at MoCADA in 2015 and has since shifted her career path with a dedication to working in environments that supports spiritual growth and wellness practices. Molicia's interests in removing energitic blockages and maintaining balanced wellbieng also led her to explore other modalities such as reiki, qigong, acupunture, and plant medicines. Her path has aligned Molicia with a community of healers and has influenced her current venture to co-create a healing collective to make holistic modalities more accessible to those seeking transformation.
