In this workshop we'll explore ways to create collective stories combining different artistic forms (words, imagery, object play/puppetry, gesture, sound, staging).
Themes will revolve around tales of Jewish witches, protective powers and magical gifts hidden and unharnessed - myths of survival and resistance reframed, reclaimed, and reinvented.
A series of rapid, accessible creative exercises will lead to a final short performance for the day, leaving participants with a repertoire of approaches and materials to bring into subsequent story-making and arts projects.
No experience necessary. Suitable for creative people of all abilities, ages, and backgrounds. Please note: children under 13 must participate in the workshop with an adult.
Light snacks and refreshments will be provided.
ACCESSIBILITY
🏢This workshop takes place in two Jumblies Theatre spaces 1. The Ground Floor and 2. The Upstairs Studio
1. The Ground Floor offers step-free access throughout. The main entrance has a push-button power assisted door. There is a small angled lip of less than 1-inch at the doorway.
There is a single-stall, all-gender washroom. The washroom has grab bars behind and adjacent to the toilet, a wheelchair-accessible sink, and sufficient space for wheelchair users. The washroom doors open with a push-button, but do require a door handle to be manually turned and locked. Workshop staff will be onsite to assist with the washroom doors as needed.
2. The Upstairs Studio is accessed from Dan Leckie Waynext to the Tim Hortons. The entrance has a push-button power assisted door. There is an elevator and stairs going to the second floor. There is also an accessible washroom on the same floor.
Please note: this building entrance requires a fob. If you arrive late, a number to call will be listed so that a staff person can come let you in.
😷Masks required to keep our community safe. Please let us know if masking is a hardship for you for an exemption.
