Event description

Description

This theatrical production will take you on a hero's journey of women who lived during the Civil rights Movement.

Reclaiming My Time, an American Griot Project was conceived and written by Maria James-Thiaw and is presented in association with the Harrisburg (PA) Chapter of The Links, INC.

Maria James-Thiaw, poet, interviewed dozens of women and turned their stories of fear, disbelief, courage, outrage and victory into dynamic spoken-word poetry.

Director, Janet Bixler and James-Thiaw wove the poems together to tell the bigger story of the women whose voices were often dismissed during this time of great change. Now the women are stepping forward to reclaim their time in history, the present and the future.

This production will be filled with powerful words, images, movement and VOICES!
