Event description

Description

We are tired of being told what a Muslim is by the news and the internet. We are ready to broadcast our own voices and share our own stories. In this panel & workshop, we're tackling the issues of representation, identity, and the young Muslim experience. Hear from young Muslim community leaders who, in various interesting and creative ways, are sharing with the world what the real Muslim experience is, and are creating dialogue on important issues we face. How do we navigate increasingly secularized schools and universities, where religion is seen as "uncool"? How can we reconcile our Canadian identity with our Muslim identity? How do we talk about Islam when Islam - and our identities - have become so increasingly politicized? Let's tackle these issues and more!

Young Muslim Panelists:
NIDHA YAQUB: The Breathing Room, the HOPE Project
ABUBAKAR KHAN: The Chosen Khan
NOOR FADEL: Activist and Protest Organizer
HAMZA AHMAD: The Journal For Muslims
