Wednesday and Thursday November 8 and 9, 6-9 p.m each evening.


Workshop your own recipes with Milk Street's Food Editor Matthew Card, Editorial Director J.M. Hirsch, and Director of Education Rosemary Gill. Through two nights of intensive cooking, evaluation, lecture, and conversation, you will practice the skills needed for professional recipe development, helpful knowledge to have whether you're a home cook or aspiring pro.

This is a two-part class that runs on consecutive evenings and you must be able to attend both sessions. Class size is limited to 8 people. Attending our Recipe Developer Workshop 101 before attending 201 is encouraged.

Recipes you bring to workshop must be able to be made, from start to finish, in 45 minutes. You will need to submit your recipes in advance so that we can supply all ingredients and equipment needed. Specialty equipment and some ingredients we may not be able to provide and will ask you to bring.

Wednesday:

  • Introductions and Discussions: How do you make your recipe great?
  • Cooking: Make your recipe
  • Tasting: Guided group evaluation of all recipes
  • Editing: Edit your recipes based on class feedback and under guidance of your lead teacher

Thursday:

  • Cooking: Make updated version of your recipe
  • Tasting: Guided group evaluation of all recipes
  • Discussion: Group conversation about recipe development

What is the maximum number of students per class?

Different classes have different student/participant caps. Here are general guidelines for maximum student capacity:

What are my transport/parking options getting to the event?

Please note: 177 Milk Street has multiple doors. Ours are the double brown doors, with bowties on them, directly across from 49 India Street.

What can/can't I bring/wear to the event?

Please wear close-toed shoes and tie back long hair. You are welcome to bring a phone or camera.

No pets allowed.


Is this a demo or hands-on cooking class?

This is a hands-on cooking class.


Should I eat a snack before class?

Yes! In this class we will taste recipes as we cook, but an hour or more may pass before the sampling begins. You will ultimately taste 8-10 different dishes.


Are there ID requirements or an age limit to enter the event?

Yes. All students must be 18+ years old. Students 14-17 years old are welcome to participate with an adult guardian or parent.

Is my registration/ticket refundable or transferrable?

Yes. Tickets are refundable up to seven days before an event and transferable to another student at any time. Within seven days of the event, we do not offer refunds.
