Reality of Christians in the Holy Land: A Conversation with Mother Agapia

By Palestinian American Heritage Society

Overview

Stories of faith, resilience, and humanity: Mother Agapia on Palestinian Christians persevering under occupation.

Join us for an afternoon conversation with Mother Agapia, Abbess of the Convent of Saint Nicholas of Myra in Owego, New York, as she shares her experiences living and serving among Palestinian Christians and Muslims in the Holy Land of Palestine.

During her years as administrator of the Orthodox Girls School of Bethany in Al-Azariya—just over the Mount of Olives—Mother Agapia witnessed firsthand the challenges of life under occupation and the enduring strength of faith within Palestinian communities.

In this conversation, she will reflect on the impact of the occupation on daily life and the resilience of Palestinian Christians, whose faith and culture continue to shine despite adversity. Drawing on her continued work connecting youth and faith communities in Palestine and the U.S., Mother Agapia offers a message of hope, solidarity, and shared humanity.

Light vegetarian appetizers and non-alcoholic refreshments will be available.
