Event description

Description

Join us in commemorating one hundred years of Czech and Slovak independence during the Rehearsal for Truth Theater Festival. The evening’s program will reflect Vaclav Havel’s dedication to human rights, theater, and cultural diplomacy. We will honor Secretary Albright for her unparalleled contribution to the return of the Czechs and Slovaks to the democratic societies of the world. The annual Award for a Courageous Writer at Risk to an individual who has fought for freedom of expression and other rights in an exemplary, inspiring manner will be presented.

You will enjoy short excerpts from shows performed by Czech and Polish theatre companies with music by the renowned Czech singer Iva Bittova and the Slovak dulcimer band Pajtasi. The esteemed MC's for the evening include Czech puppeteer Vit Horejs and a 'surprise' actress (to be revealed in July).

The Czech restaurant Bohemian Spirit will add to the authentic Czech and Slovak ambiance of the evening.
