Event description

Description

The purpose of Real Talk is to educate the youth of the community about sexual health and making safe healthy choices. Topics that have been covered at the event include: HIV/STI prevention, Birth Control Options, Media Messages, Self-Esteem, Teen Pregnancy Prevention, HPV information, Bully Prevention, and Healthy Relationships. SBHC staff, GLBHC staff, Teen Advisory Council Members, and community partners have presented and coordinated this event. Our goal is to reach 150-200 youth, ages, and 13-18 and provide them with the necessary information to make safe, healthy choices regarding their sexual health. The information presented is youth-friendly and non-judgmental. It provides youth with a safe space to ask questions, and gain accurate information. All youth must have parental consent in order to participate due to the sensitive nature of the topics.

This year’s event will be hosted on Thursday March 29h, 2018 at Saginaw High School from 10am-6pm. This year, the event will include educational sessions along with fun activities in hopes to engage more youth. There will also be several opportunities for participants to win prizes throughout the day. If you are interested in participating, please contact Amanda Forsmark (aforsmark@glbhealth.org or 989-399-6125)
