Description

Join us for the opening event of our Real People. Real Lives. Women Immigrants of New York exhibit at the Community Partnership Gallery of Queens Museum. The event will be hosted by New Women New Yorkers' executive director Arielle Kandel, artist Dru Blumensheid, and some of the project participants.

Exclusive signed copies of the Real People. Real Lives. exhibit book as well as photographs and postcards will be available for sale.

Soft drinks and a light lunch will be served.

About the exhibit:

Real People. Real Lives. Women Immigrants of New York features art and fashion photographs of 16 young immigrant women in iconic NYC spots and neighborhoods, together with audio recordings of their stories and video montages. It shows a nuanced and multi-layered picture of the immigrant women who make NYC their home, of the barriers and isolation they experience, and of the hopes, dreams, and talents they bring with them.
