Event description

Description

At the 35th anniversary of the seminal report, A Nation at Risk, last April, the Ronald Reagan Institute felt compelled to leverage our demonstrated convening power and bring together stakeholders from across the education landscape. In this, we examined the past three and a half decades, as well as the future of our education systems. The Reagan Institute Summit on Education (RISE) 2018 featured seven US Secretaries of Education, Members of Congress, state and local officials, university presidents, former cabinet officials, Chief State School Officers, students, and more.

RISE 2019 will take place in Washington, DC on April 10-11 and its focus will be grounded in the premise that education is a national priority and a state’s responsibility. This will lay the critical foundation for RISE 2020 where we will further illuminate the role of the states and gubernatorial leadership. The current educational shift from federal to state and local control as well as lessons from history will guide the Ronald Reagan Institute’s design of the next two Summits.

Speakers for RISE 2019 include Sal Khan, Sen. Lamar Alexander (R-TN), Rep. Virginia Foxx (R-NC), Former Secretaries of Education, John B. King, Jr., and Dr. Rod Paige, Sen. Tim Kaine (D-VA), Dr. Linda Darling Hammond and Former Gov. Jim Hunt. Visit out our website for more speaker announcements!
