Read/McQueen - Livestream & Multi-Camera Taping w/Studio Audience
Event Information
About this event
Grab a table for our in-studio audience for the hi-fi acoustic live-taping of The Soap Boxers, centered around our 1922 Steinway L grand piano. We'll be using minimal amplification and enforcing a strict whisper policy to ensure guests can enjoy the concert to its fullest potential. We'll be multi-tracking loads of microphones and camera angles to capture this LIVE performance for future release.
Read/McQueen is the Austin, Texas acoustic guitar duo of Matt Read and Chris McQueen. They've released two albums of all original music, the self-released Western Theatre (2017) and Read/McQueen (GroundUP, 2021).
Chris McQueen has been playing, writing, and recording music since 1994. Along with Henry Hey he co-leads the explorative, groove-oriented instrumental band Forq, which has released four albums. He is an original and current member of 3-time Grammy winning band Snarky Puppy and Grammy-nominated world music group Bokanté as well as a frequent member of Banda Magda. He has performed with Lucy Woodward, Lizz Wright, Nikka Costa, Myron Butler & Levi, and Alejandro Escovedo. He has been featured in several rock musicals, including David Bowie’s Lazarus at New York Theater Workshop (featuring Michael C. Hall) and The Rocky Horror Show at The Dallas Theater Center. He studied at the University of North Texas.
Matt Read began his professional career at the age of 16 while recording a guest solo on the track “Brave New World” by Dallas based band Blu Shale. Matt would soon be asked to join that band and play shows around the Dallas/Ft. Worth area for several years. At the age of 19, he started teaching privately while also studying jazz guitar at The University of North Texas, and went on to receive an MA from Berklee College of Music. Matt is a regular member of the Naga Valli band, The Royal Dukes Band, and Beth // James. He is a Collings Guitars artist, and a Jim Dunlop artist. Matt has released two solo guitar albums, entitled First Song (2008) and Onward (2015).
