Event description
Teachers (Gr. 2+)will learn how reading texts can improve student writing and how writing can improve reading comprehension.

About this Event

We know that reading and writing are related processes but how can work in one process positively impact learning in the other? This workshop will show engaging ways reading can give tools to student authors and how writing can help students become better readers.

  • How are reading and writing similar and different to learn and teach?
  • How can texts be used for prewriting of students' drafts and as mentor texts to improve student writing?
  • What writing strategies can we use to help deepen student comprehension of the texts they read?
  • How can teachers design writing activities to assess reading comprehension?
