Event description

Description

"Reading Literary Emotions through Media Arts" is an event being held in collaboration with Media Arts and Design Festival 2017. The event features the creative audio-visual productions made by the students from the English Department of Chiang Mai University, who are taking the class title "Literature and Communicative Arts". In the course, students get to explore a variety of ways in which a literary work can be read, interpreted, and retold, and how it transforms when being articulated in a different art medium. For this project, in particular, the students look at the "non-narrative" aspects of literary works such as emotion, intensity, and other cultural forces, which can be "retold" on an audio and visual art medium to encourage the audience to feel the same way or similarly. This attempt to adapt the literary emotion bring literature to be defined more similarly as an artwork, where emotion and feeling play an important role in the making.

The event is free-entry. However, if you register first through this Eventbrite page, you will receive free refreshment at the venue on the exhibition day.

The venue is located in the old town, Chiang Mai, at the townhouse-turned-gallery, located at 136/6-7 Ratcha-Phakhinai Road (If you come at the intersection at Phan-On temple, face South, go on the Ratcha-Phakhinai Road for 300 meters, the gallery is on your right).
