Come to The Reading League's FREE event on January 12, 2017 from 6:00-8:30 pm. (Events are held every other month, always on the second Thursday.) This event is being hosted by Salem Hyde School in the Syracuse City School District - many thanks for their hospitality! It's great to be in the SCSD!
TOPIC: We've been spending a lot of our events focusing on beginning reading. Now it's time to talk about evidence-based methods of teaching older students how to decode longer words...with a pinch of teaching irregularly spelled words (without encouring students to "just memorize")!
And remember that The Reading League is now a state approved CTLE sponsor for professional development hours. You will receive a certificate after the event before you leave.
This will be a highly interactive session once again. If you've been to our events, you know that no two are alike!
Reading League members come from a large CNY area, so each event is located at a different venue to accommodate the driving distances fairly. Salem Hyde has plenty of free parking and is near many lovely places to eat in case you are coming directly from work.
Thank you for your support and your energy and your engagement in learning about evidence-based reading instruction!
