Description

Xavier University professors and poets Norman Finkelstein and Tyrone Williams will present and discuss the range of contemporary poetic styles, and offer an opportunity to draft poems of your own.

Room location will be provided after registration. Bring a brown bag lunch.

About the Presenters

Norman Finkelstein is a poet, critic, and Professor of English at Xavier University. He has written extensively on modern poetry and Jewish American literature. His most recent critical book is On Mount Vision: Forms of the Sacred In Contemporary American Poetry (Iowa, 2010); his newest book of poetry is The Ratio of Reason to Magic: New and Selected Poems (Dos Madres, 2016). He is at work on a book of essays, tentatively titled Like a Dark Rabbi: Modern Poetry & the Jewish Literary Imagination.

Tyrone Williams teaches literature and theory at Xavier University in Cincinnati, Ohio. He is the author of five books of poetry, c.c. (Krupskaya Books, 2002), On Spec (Omnidawn Publishing, 2008), The Hero Project of the Century (The Backwaters Press, 2009), Adventures of Pi (Dos Madres Press, 2011) and Howell (Atelos Books, 2011). He is also the author of several chapbooks, including a prose eulogy, Pink Tie (Hooke Press, 2011). His website is at http://home.earthlink.net/~suspend/
