Reader Riot BBQ Dinner from Dick Howell's
Fri, April 28, 2017, 6:00 PM – 7:00 PM CDT
$10 BBQ plates from Dick Howell's BBQ Pit
On Friday, April 28th, the Reader Riot book festival kicks off with a bang. On Friday evening, we have two spectacular events: a movie-in-the-park screening of Disney's The Queen of Katwe and a presentation from poets Frank X Walker and Randall Horton.
And you're going to need to eat beforehand. So why not fill your belly with some good, old-fastioned, downhome BBQ. Dick Howell's is a Florence staple, and you're not going to find anything better to eat that night than a plate piled high with all the fixin's.
So grab yourself a ticket because the amount of food we'll be able to serve is limited and get ready to chow down on some fantastic BBQ before picking an event to Riot the night away.
Each ticket is $10, and all proceeds will go to the Reader Riot book festival, a free community event. You will need to print your ticket out and bring to the event to redeem.
What is the Reader Riot?
The Reader Riot is a free and open-to-the-public book festival being held in Florence, Alabama, and in addition to featured guests and authors, we are going to have scheduled activities (a children’s character lunch, for example) and a vendor area where our attendees can explore, get to know some authors, and buy some swag!
We have scheduled talks and events for children and adults all day on Friday and Saturday, and in addition to R.L. Stine, we also have New York Times bestseller Melanie Benjamin, famed author and sports journalist Tim Crothers, sci-fi author Tobias Buckell, award-winning YA author Watt Key, and over a dozen more featured guests. The line-up is spectacular, and your being there would only make it that much more awesome. All of our featured guest events are free to attend, too! So what are you waiting for?
