Description

Do You Live in East Brooklyn?

Do You Want to Activate Community?

ARTs East New York is launching an open call to East Brooklyn based artists under 30 years old to apply to be part of a year-long Van Lier Fellowship program at [re]New Lots.

About The Fellowship:

The [re]activate Van Lier Fellowship invites 4 community-based social practice artists from East Brooklyn to effectuate 2 community-responsive public art projects in East New York. Throughout the year each artists will engage in civically-minded professional development through workshops, roundtable discussions, and community event to help them prepare for their community visioning and public art projects. This fellowship is for East Brooklyn based artists and artisans who will benefit from a place to work, display work, sell products, and most importantly: interact with and build community.

Thanks to the generosity of the New York Community Trust, the Van Lier Fellowship is free of charge. Each fellow will receive a $16,000 honorarium, free studio space, as well as a project budget of up to $5,000 to complete their public art projects.

We'll be going over an overview of the program, handing out applications, and answering any questions about the program. In order to apply, you must attend one of the information sessions.
