Why Reaching Space meetings?
The goal of these Reaching Space meetings is to reach the business and investment in high-tech initiatives. The region of Noordwijk-Rotterdam is one of the most important regions for space science and space business in Europe. More and more entrepreneurs are recognizing that advanced knowledge of eg TNO, TU Delft or ESA, is easily accessible and provides a huge competitive advantage.

The initiators therefore have joined forces with entrepreneurs and investors to show how to make  business initiatives more viable. In an informal meeting environment examples and experiences will be discussed from the  venture capital market on how to achieve the best results.

The speakers

 

Toon Buddingh’

ToonBuddingh' for over 10 years active in setting up and managing science based incubators belonging to the top of Europe. Essence, the clustering of businesses. Within this maximum synergy there, outside the profiled as a leading group of companies within certain themes. Noordwijk, the European center for space science and space business.

 

Paul Staathof

Paul Straathof (1963), after which he was Director of Marketing at Cisco Systems has started the company Sports-Track.com. The company is started in the first ESA incubation program. Paul has guided the company through several successful financing rounds. The latter was a management buyout. Since then, Paul himself an enterprising investor.

 

René Reijtenbagh

Rene Reijtenbagh, business and economic geographer, is founder of the Business Angels Network "Masters of the Future" The business angel network for eastern Netherlands. He is secretary of the Association of Business Angels Networks Netherlands and elected board member of the EBAN (European Business Angels Network). There he is mainly concerned with organizing transnational deal flow for EBAN members.

 

Wiebke Langhans

Wiebke is senior investment manager and partner at Triangle Venture Capital Group,  managing the OSTF - Open Sky Technologies Fund. She joined  Triangle in 2005 and has put special emphasis on the management of the deal flow and deal sourcing process including the interaction and collaboration with universities' tech transfer and spin-off activities. She participated in more than 25 venture capital transactions and serves as board member in four portfolio companies in the software and clean tech industry including the OSTF's investments iOpener and takwak.

ESA open Sky Technology fund

In addition to the ESA Business Incubation Centres, ESA has taken the initiative to promote the establishment of a fund to support start-up and early stage companies. The investment focus of the Open Sky Technologies Fund is on seed-capital investments, start-ups and early-stage growth capital for companies using space-related technologies or satellite applications in non-space applications. These companies need to be located within ESA’s Member States.

 

ESA BIC Noordwijk

ESA BIC Noordwijk is located in the European Space Business Center (ESIC) of currently 17 companies. The startups are using the ESA incubation program, which allows them to use space technology for its own products. Besides access to the facilities and test centers ESA contribution they receive a starter

 

Oost NV

The Development Agency East Netherlands in particular, its business angels network, Masters of the Future. A network of more than 200 investors who are closely related to various programs within the universities valorization program WUR Wageningen, Radboud University Nijmegen and the University of Twente

 

Rabobank Bollenstreek

RabobankBollenstreek works closely with ESA BIC Noordwijk for the business incubation program. From this strategic partnership follows a Pre-Seed Loan agreement. Also in the field of networking activities the Rabobank is cooperating in building a networking club for Space-related companies in the region.
